Wire Art – Owl Wall Decor

Owls are birds of the night. They are often seen as mysterious, because humans have always found night to be full of mystery and the unknown. Night and darkness usually include magic and mystery. Night is also associated with the moon, so owls are connected to Moon Goddess, becoming a symbol of fertility (related to moon’s cycles of renewal). Through folklore, we associate owls with wisdom. Besides the intellectual wisdom, owls are also connected with the wisdom of the soul. There are myths and legends from all over the world, from the Americas to the Far East that connect owl to wisdom and femininity. The owl was a symbol for…

    Jewelry Making – Memory Wire

My specialty is wire wrapping, I am a free-form type of designer. However, when you make jewelry for living, you must know many other techniques. I constantly experiment and learn. I break a lot before I make something. 😊 Today I was playing with memory wire. Honestly, I use this wire mostly for hoop earrings and simple coil bracelets, beach style. My problem is that I tend to like elaborate and complicated pieces. So today I ‘complicated’ a regular cuff bracelet design to the point that I spent all my morning on it. And when I finished and was ready to go out for my daily walk, it started to…

Recycle Metal Art & Steampunk Sculptures

I came across some photos that I took in New York City, in Bryant Park, Winter Village, in Nov. 2018. Here is a part of the post I wrote in a blog at that time, on Steemit.com platform, one of my favorite blogging platforms. Winter Village this year is filled with charming little shops that sell all kind of things, one more interesting than another. Tourists and non-tourists pass by and shop every day, all day long. The most interesting shop for me is the Metal Park shop. That is because I am a wire sculpture artist myself. I am not the only curious one, people are lining up to…

How To Wrap a Dragon Eye Pebble – Steampunk Jewelry

I would like to show you how to make an easy wrap, steampunk style. I use this technique for my dragon-eyes pebbles, and after wrapping, I incorporate them in jewelry, like pendants and bracelets. This is how an eye will look like, after wrapping it. The wrapping is absolutely necessary, because it holds the eye in place. In wire wrapped jewelry, the artist never relies on glue, only on wire. The materials you need are: dragon eye pebble, crafts wire (I used copper wire 24 ga), metal gear (from crafts store or Amazon). As you can see, my pebble is not calibrated (not perfectly round), but that’s ok, it will…

    Wooden Beads Galore!

I love to work with wooden beads. I buy wholesale wooden beads from a supplier who is telling me that they are echo-friendly, made from fast growing, planted trees. Also, they are painted with natural dyes. My imagination is always at work. Besides making lots of jewelry with these beautiful and colorful beads, I make wall decor and dream-catchers. Below are some of my creations. Wooden beads jewelry are very popular in the Caribbean, where everybody hangs out at the beach. Light weight and comfortable, they add glamour to any outfit. This is a large wall decor, mix media: wooden beads, crystals, fabric and of course, wire, my friend! ……
